Josip Drmić is hot stuff

While it’s uncertain as to how true these transfer stories of Josip Drmi? to Arsenal are I’m in no doubt that he’d be an asset to any Premier League club including the Gunners. Drmi? is a classic Wenger signing in that he is, up until recently, underrated and relatively cheap.

The Croatian born the Swiss international is the current the poster boy of the Bundesliga. As Honigstein reported on BT Sport yesterday, Drmi? has the pace to play on either wing or down the middle. He is strong, imaginative and his technique is beyond question as evidenced by some of the fantastic goals that he has scored this season.

Any player that scores sixteen goals for a team struggling near the bottom of the table is the real deal. The 21 year old striker has almost certainly played himself into the Ottmar Hitzfeld’s Switzerland World Cup squad and out of the 1. FC Nürnberg team in the summer.

If Arsenal are in the market for Drmi? then they should act as soon as is possible after the end season of the season. His name has been connected to Bayer Leverkusen and no doubt other top Bundesliga clubs will be interested especially if Nürnberg are relegated as this means he'll be available on the cheap (the buy-out clause is €3.5m if FCN go down).

You imagine that Drmi? is being looked at as a striking option for Borussia Dortmund who are set to lose Robert Lewandowski to Bayern. This is pure speculation but many Dortmund fans would find him a more exciting prospect than Hertha BSC striker, Adrian Ramos, who is set to join BVB shortly.

However, you would also imagine that, should his club go down to Bundesliga 2, Arsenal would be in the box seat as not only will they be able to pay the modest  buy-out fee but they would be able to offer him the wages and trappings that come with being a London based Premier League striker.

The only area of concern for would be suitors is if he features heavily in the World Cup and is unable to complete a full pre-season. Whoever ends up signing Drmi? may need to be patient.
